Hey Everyone!
We're at the hotel in Belize City. Sue is safely off to Guatemala with Chepito and Fabi. The plane seems to be on schedule so everything is going as planned.
The week went very well. The small groups did a great job of sharing the gospel message with the kids yesterday. Everyone was sad to see the week come to an end. Andrew has a story to share... He took Cinthia to the dentist and she was very scared at first. But then she ended up being confident and getting her teeth cleaned. Julie showed her how to brush her teeth. :) There are so many stories to share that you'll have to check with us when we get back.
See you at the airport on Saturday night! Pray for our safe return home...and for some entertainment during the LONG layover in Miami. :)

July 14
Hey Everyone!
It was a beautiful day here... a little hotter than yesterday but no rain in sight! The kids came out in droves to hang out with us to sing and learn more Bible stories. The groups got to go out on the beach today because the weather was nicer. They loved being further apart than yesterday. :) It's hard to teach in close quarters with wild children. ;)
The young moms group is growing! They had 12 moms and some of their babies. They talked about same story - Jesus walking on the water. Mary Jo talked about the importance of touching their babies and baby exercises. These moms are so young sometimes that they have no idea how to parent well. They are excited to learn more. We are praying that they will take some of these lessons to heart. It is hard to put something new into practice.
The dental team has been giving lessons on hygiene as well as the cleanings. Some of the kids came back to the school today with clean teeth - and they were so excited that it wasn't scary! :) The dentists are praying before and during the dental work - so God's Spirit has been busy keeping the peace there.
Continue to pray for our energy levels. Wednesdays always feel long in VBS. The kids will be feeling extra comfortable with us - so they might decide to be extra rambunctious. Thank God for the lovely weather that we've had. One of our teammates pointed out that in the seven years that there has been VBS we've had no rainouts.

Hey Everyone,
We're doing well. Today it rained. Not always a good thing in Seine Bight because if it rains, the kids stay home. They are afraid of getting sick. So we were concerned that there wouldn't be many kids at VBS. We also didn't know where VBS would be...in the church or in the school. HOwever God is bigger than our concerns! The rain let up as we were getting ready and our friend Rock, local policeman and a huge supporter of the VBS for the kids, got the school opened for us. Jim and Anna, the missionaries here, loaned us sound equipment and we were off and running. The kids still love to sing Take God's Promises and Hide them in Our Hearts at the top of their voices. It is so good to hear them and see them sing. The small group leaders are doing a great job of sharing GOd's love and God's Words with them! The youth had a good youth time with trainwreck and retelling the Nativity story. The Bobs are builders - they can do it! :) They're working on putting a house to level. THe earthquake in the spring damaged some of the buildings.
The dental team worked so hard that Mike the dentist is sitting here sleeping in the foyer of the Bellamaya. They are exhausted. Lots of cleanings and extractions today.
I'm going to wake Mike up so he can go to bed. Poor guy!
Continue to pray for us. Each day brings new challenges. :)

Hi Everyone!
We're here safely in Belize. We just finished dinner and devotions at the Aguada Hotel, where we will spend the night. We're pretty exhausted. Being up at 3am is not a part of our normal routine. Expect us to be sleeping before the 10:30 lights out time. :)
Wish we could post a picture of all we saw today. Everything is very lush and green. The mosquitoes have found us as well. ;)
We are planning on climbing the Mayan ruins tomorrow, driving to Seine Bight, and setting up the VBS and dental material.
Pray for us to have good rest tonight and safe driving and playing tomorrow. We are practicing being palm trees: with thick skin, deep roots, flexible trunks, bearing much fruit.
blessings!

Good Morning Everyone!
Today we are praying for Carin. She's on her fifth trip and is leading the preschool ministry for the first time. She's taught every other age group, so she thought this would be a great adventure too. :) She worked hard to create a new curriculum that the preschoolers will be using for the first time- yeah Carin!!! She will be heading up the recess time as well. Pray for her as she finishes lots of projects today and for her as she leads in other ways this coming week.
Blessings on all of your final preparations today!
See you at the airport at 4am!

Good morning everyone!
Today we're praying for Jim, Anna's husband. He loves talking about Jesus and sharing that through music - he's mean guitar player...a guitar hero perhaps? Pray for him to be encouraged by what is being done in the village and that we would be good partners with him and Anna!

Hey Everyone!
The bags are packed and mostly ready to go. The last minute details are coming together. :) Yeah!
Today we are praying for Anna. Anna and her husband Jim live in the village of Seine Bight as missionaries. They lived in California and two of their friends from their home church are serving with us on the trip, Renee (pronounced Renny) and Jan (pronounced Jan :). Anna tutors in the school and serves in many ways, but her passion is leading singing and dancing. She has started a worship dance group that meets at the school.
Pray for her as she joins with us in ministry, that we see ways to serve her and she sees ways to serve with us. Pray also for times of refreshment because she gets to see friends from home - and when you're on the field, that's a great thing!
No time for pictures today! Keep praying!

Hey Everyone!

I hope that your Fourth of July celebration was fantastic! I certainly enjoyed the fireworks from my prime location. :)
Today we're praying for Lena. She's joining the team for a second time to lead a small group and to join the painting crew. Pray for her strength as she readies herself and her stamina while we are there. Here are some of the kids that we are going to be loving and serving in a week's time!

Happy Friday to All!
Today we're praying for Carly. While this isn't Carly's first mission trip, it will be her first mission trip to Belize! Pray for her as she prepares to experience a new culture and new location.
The kids will be ready to see us next weekend! When Sue, Bob, Bob and Betty pull into the village, the kids will be asking where the rest of us are and when we will get there! Be ready to give hugs and high fives when you hop out of the van.Thursday, July 2, 2009
July 2

Today we're praying for Jeremy. He will be assisting the dentists during the week. Pray for his strength and endurance. The dental team works with minimal breaks all day long. One year they performed a skit for us about why cleaning your teeth is so important. Dr. Frith is trying to get Timmy there to chew on the sugar cane, which is really bad for teeth...and happens a lot in Seine Bight.

Today, please pray for Emily. She has been on several trips before and has led many small groups full of little boys, 6-7 years old. Ask God to bless her creativity as she prepares to teach them about God and His great love for them! One year, she helped them act out the story of Jericho and the walls falling down.

Today we're praying for Mary Jo, a new friend from Tennessee. She will be working with Kathie on the young mom's Bible study and the young mom's development. This is a new area of ministry that started last year as we tried to help the preschool teachers have a quieter room to teach in. :) Pray for wisdom and insight for Kathie and Mary Jo as they help these young moms grow in knowledge, understanding and care of their little ones.

Good Morning Friends!
Today we're praying for Tyler. This will be his first trip. Pray for his preparation. He will be leading a small group and doing some painting in the afternoons. SHAZZZAM! (and yes, it should be spelled with 3 z's - Tyler has declared it to be the official spelling.)

Perhaps he will be able to help us cross the river when we visit the Mayan ruins? Everyone loves a ferry boat ride! :)
